Happy Valentine's Day!

Fragrant Massage
for Relaxation

There is nothing more enjoyable than a massage, unless it is a massage with essential oils! There are many oils you can select to increase your enjoyment and the benefits of your massage. In all the cases discussed below the essential oils can be added in very small quantities to the masseur's massage oil.

If you are looking for pain relief in your massage you can use oils whose properties are focused on relieving pain. Oils in this category include chamomile, peppermint, eucalyptus, rosemary, ginger, or lavender. Of course, these are just a few of the more readily available oils for this purpose.

Those of you involved heavily in sports know that massage can help relax and stretch hard-used muscles. Oils suitable for this include ginger, rosemary, lavender, and grapefruit. After the massage, an ointment containing some of these oils can be applied for continued relief.

Headaches can be helped by massage with an oil containing peppermint. Especially comforting is a massage of the forehead and face using just a drop of peppermint essential oil in the massage oil.

Romantic massage can be enhanced by adding rose, sandalwood, ylang-ylang or a combination of any of these essential oils to the massage oil. And the essence of a romantic massage is the sharing involved. So don't forget to trade off giving massages!

Touched By A Scent has blended a new, very relaxing massage oil that has received rave reviews from clients of a local massage therapist. It was designed to provide extreme comfort and relaxation for the person experiencing the massage. When receiving a massage with this oil you could just melt into the table.

If you've never experienced a massage why not discover the benefits this year? There are many great massage therapists in your local area. Ask the therapist which styles of massage they use, deep tissue, sports massage, Swedish, light massage, or any of several techniques. Ask them if they are licensed and where they studied. Using that input, decide what kind of massage experience you are looking for and make an appointment with the therapist of choice. Then let your massage therapist know you are eager to experience an aromatic massage. You'll be glad you did!

Energy Medicine and Reiki
Apprenticeship Workshops

In April, Ms. Heidi Abel of Englewood, Colorado will start a year-long apprenticeship program for potential Reiki practitioners. She will be in Kentucky on a quarterly basis to do intensive weekend programs on Energy Medicine. Between her visits, each student will have exercises to complete, they will journal their experiences, and they will share with their fellow students under the direction of Suzanne Gochenouer, owner of Touched By A Scent. Those persons interested in learning the history and benefits of Reiki purely for their own knowledge and enjoyment will enjoy Ms. Abel's extremely knowledgeable classes. For those who are interested in becoming Reiki practitioners the apprenticeship program provides a means of learning and absorbing all the ways that the use of Reiki will impact their lives and the lives of those to whom they apply their knowledge and energy.

Suzanne has been apprenticing with Ms. Abel in the study of different forms of energy work for five years. She testifies that the apprenticeship program offers the student time to practice and assimilate the newly learned skills before moving to the next level. The mentor becomes a life-long support as the student moves through different stages of life and work in the fields of energy. The mentor encourages the student to move on when it is time to take the next step of progression, and also helps the student move past blockages in life and in energy when those occur.

If you would like more information on the Reiki apprenticeship, or if you would like to sign up for the first weekend experience, scheduled for April 19, 20, and 21, 2002 please email your name and address to suzanne@TBAScent.com . She'll send you a registration form.
