Beating the Dog Days of
Summer
__________
|
This has been a very
busy summer with many speaking engagements, classes, and seminars to
prepare. Because of the time required to put together handouts, samples,
and information specific to the group addressed, I have less time to put
together new and useful ideas for the newsletter on a monthly basis. So,
until further notice the Touched By A Scent newsletter will be published
on a bi-monthly basis.Cool Off With Citrus and Mint
I don't care how hot, muggy, humid, and uncomfortable the weather gets,
the juicy pleasure of a freshly peeled orange, the tart tang of an
ice-filled glass of lemonade, or the tantalizing coolness of a lime
sherbet can cool you off within minutes.
Make essential oils work for you in the same way by harnessing the cooling
energy of the oils of these fruits. There are dozens of ways to use these
oils effectively to create a cooling effect in your environment.
Oils that are refreshing to the body and spirit include orange, lemon,
lime, grapefruit, peppermint (think pink-swirled ice cream!), lemon
eucalyptus, and German chamomile (think of an apple orchard in summer).
Try to place your cooling essential oils in an area where there will be
some circulation of air - you want the aroma to waft around the room. Room
diffusers are another excellent way to spread the effect.
Experiment with oils dripped onto strips of paper that you tape to the
blades of your ceiling fan. Do the taping while the fan is off, please! As
the fan blades spin the aroma will be flung to the corners of the room.
Carry a tissue or handkerchief treated with a few drops of your oil in a
shirt pocket. Tie a bandanna loosely around your neck after treating the
corners with your favorite cooling oil.
Take advantage of the wonderful power of the oils to make you feel cool,
calm, and collected while those around you are melting in the dog days of
summer! And enjoy the warmth - it'll be winter before you know it. Aroma Class at Brescia University
Once again, I will be teaching a four week class on aromatherapy at
Brescia University this fall semester. The classes will be held on October
29, November 5, 12, and 19 at 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Cost is $50.00 which
includes essential oils, bottles, sample strips, and handouts. Everyone
will leave with an essential oil blend that they have created for
themselves. We had a wonderful time exploring ten oils last semester.
Due to the number of people who found out about the last class from
friends after it was underway, this is a repeat of the class I taught last
semester. There have been requests from the first group to have an
advanced class on oils, and that may be possible after we finish the basic
class planned for this semester.
Call Sister Marita Greenwell at 270-686-4275 to sign up for this class.
Don't delay, there are a limited number of spaces available. Session Two of the Energy Medicine Workshops
