Happy St. Patrick's Day!

We all accept that there is some form of energy that can travel through wires that invade our homes, jump into small hollow glass vessels and provide light for reading - all at the touch of a switch. We also accept that another form of energy can travel unseen through the air around us and jump into small or large boxes and provide voice and pictures - again at the touch of a switch. Yet many of us find it hard to wrap our minds around the fact that all matter is energy. It doesn't make any difference if the matter is rock, wood, metal, or mammal ... we are all made of energy. Granted, the energy vibration of a rock is far slower than that of a cat, and the energy vibration of a cat is far, far slower than that of a sunbeam. But once we get the big "Aha!" about the concept that everything is energy, then it is easy to see how the energy of anything and everything around you can affect your own energy field.

The vibration of energy fields near to our own either feeds the energy pattern we are experiencing, or it counters our pattern. Have you ever noticed that if you are in a splendid mood and move into a group of negative people that exposure to that group can quickly change your own mood, dragging you down until you can't remember why you started the day feeling happy and confident? That is the power of energy.

Using this principle - that the energy which enters your sphere of energy can affect your own - we can make intelligent choices in our selection of essential oils to restore harmony to our own energy. And used with the intent of creating a balance in your energy, the effect of the oil's energy is increased. Energy tends to attract and create similar energy in a material manifestation. Therefore if you intend to increase you health and wellbeing when you use an essential oil, you will create that reality of health and wellbeing as your energy is balanced by the application of the oil.

If you are sufficiently aware and attuned to subtle energy fields you can try this experiment. Cut a small piece of paper and place a few drops of an essential oil on this paper. You don't want to use a large piece of paper because you do not want to feel any breeze caused by the movement of the paper. Lie on your back and close your eyes while someone passes the piece of paper slowly above your body in some pattern. Feel the energy move with the piece of paper. Without opening your eyes, tell your partner where you feel the energy move to verify that you feel the pattern they are making with the paper.

I recreated a fascinating study I read about. Scientists took an aura-photo of a plain piece of paper which showed a specific energy signature in the pattern of color seen in the photo. They then added a drop of essential oil and took another photo. It was easy to see the change in the energy signature at that spot on the paper. I saw the same result between two aura-photos of me, one without an essential oil applied to my forehead, and the other with a drop of jasmine applied.

But the most telling experiment I have found is with the energy of water. A fascinating website has photos from a book entitled Messages from Water by Japanese researcher Masaru Emoto.
